Hello,

My name is Daniel and I'm a Designer.

​

Design has always been part of my life. I grew up on an acerage of bush behind a nature reserve on the then outskirts of Melbourne in an iconic mid-century peice of architecture design where the inside and outside were combined. Design was always going to be part of my life. 

​

My design approach is about you, what works for you, what you need and what you want. It's about the quality of the space, light and how a space makes you feel. I believe that a space is never finished and I will give you the building blocks of your space.

 

I have a number of qualifications including; an Associate Degree of Interior Decoration and Design at RMIT University, a Diploma of Interior Design and Decoration at RMIT University, a Diploma of Building Design and Drafting from Box Hill Institute and a Certificate IV of Workplace Training and Assessment from SAVE Training. 

 

In both my Interiors courses I excelled academically, receiving an Encouragement award for Academic Achievement and being a finalist for the RMIT student design competition for a stand for Grand Designs Live Melbourne 2014.

 

I have spend more than decade in the Furniture retail industry, I knew I needed more, leading me to further my studies at RMIT. My furniture background included stints at Radstock and Kendall, Melbourne; The Conran Shop, London; Harvey Nichol’s, Dubai and finally King Living Australia.

Since graduation I founded my own practice Daniel Martin Design Co. Between 2016 and 2021 I was a Tutor, Sessional Lecturer and then Year Level Coordinator within the Interior Design & Decoration programs at RMIT's College of Vocational Education in Design and Technology.

I have worked with a number of design practices in a range of rolls in interior, architectural and landscape projects.

Daniel Martin Design Co was founded on the unseeded lands of the Woi Wurrung people of the Eastern Kulin Nation and today conducts it's business of the lands Taungurung people of the Eastern Kulin Nation. I honour thier elders, past, present and emerging as custodians of this land.
