WAREHOUSE

CONVERSION 2013

This was a project to convert an inner city Warehouse into a domestic space for a young professional couple.

The space… a flexible base for the future. The original concrete floor with its oil stains together with the distressed brickwork has been kept, allowing the existing textures and patina to infiltrate the new spaces.

Colour has been used extensively, with rich orange dominating the entrance hall; leading to a wall of shelves for the client’s collections. These are finished in liberal doses of bold bright colour; texture is incorporated with the end grains of the furniture grade plywood, used in all the custom made joinery throughout.

The building is dominated by the double level living and dining space. A new wall of windows and doors face the northern courtyard. The use of chunky recycled timber framing is in juxtaposition with the sleek double glazed windows and doors.
